Reflection
-I choose this fire project issue because I read an article in AP Biology that focused on African American women were more prone to developing breast cancer. I also felt strong because overall there is an inequality in cancer treatment.
-The total hours i'm not sure but I did spend at least two hours each day every day working on it for the past month. I did face some obstacles, but none of which i could not overcome.
-Some of the experiences when conducting my research was that there was a lot of blogs with good information, but that I could not use. As far as writing my paper it was easy because I had the note cards from English class.
-I tried to get a little done every day and tried to stay on top of the deadline for all the components. If you take it a little at a time it would not pile up and seem like a lot. I also took advantage of all the time we had in every class to work on the project.
-Well I did not work in a group, but I did help others and it felt pretty good being able to explain things to them that I understood.
-The goals for my project was to learn everything I could possible to teach it to everybody else and confirm that the issue studied does have a solution to it.
-The challenge that I faced was trying to analyze and use data that proved the same thing, but was stated differently.I challenged myself at the debate and controversy section because it was hard trying to get on the other side of the issue. I overcame obstacles by just not being bias and do research on the contradicting point of views of my issue.
-I would like the audience to know that through experience is when people actually start to take action about an issue they really feel strongly about. In my case one of my aunts passed away from not getting breast cancer treatment.
-I would give myself an A because I put my strongest effort into accomplishing what I needed. I did stay on top of the deadlines and did not turn anything in late. I conducted the biggest research in my high school career. I took my time to do every section of the project.
-The skill that I think I have mastered are conducting reliable research to analyze it not just say it. The skill I still need to work on is how to not be wordy and go straight to my point.
-What I have been most proud of is the research that proves and backs up the statements that I said. there is definitely an issue and it’s proven through my project.
-The difficulty that I encountered was trying to explain the same things over and over without sounding repetitive. I solved the problem by trying to use different words and looking at the statements in a different way.
-One thing I would change is that I would put more about the science content in the project. the science section would show visually how breast cancer is developed.
- One thing about my finished project that would change would be to combine it with another topic that also relates to my topic and go hand in hand. For example the environmental situations that as well cause cancer.
-I answered my central question to the fullest of my extent I believe. All the research I came to said the same thing that the issue was really a problem. No my central question did not change because I was focused on only that question.
-The source that helped me the most in my project was the pdf’s that were published by college professors where they conducted studies to prove their central claim.
-the advice I would give a student completing their project next year is to get a lot of research together before writing, because if you go looking for it in between it will get chaotic. Also, I would advise to not slack off and let things slide by because at the end it all will pile up.
